Amanda Gomez
Amanda is currently a broadcast journalism student at the University of La Verne in Southern California on an academic scholarship. She will graduate in the spring of 2010 with aspirations of honing her skills as a news reporter. She was honored to be the recipient of the Esther Davis scholarship award recognizing outstanding students in the communications department at the University of La Verne. Television journalism is a true passion of hers and she was privileged to be selected to intern at ABC World News and ABC Good Morning America during her junior and senior year. Not letting the grass grow under her feet as a college student she has held many officer positions as a sorority sister with Sigma Kappa Sorority, most recently serving as President.
Amanda's love of the equestrian lifestyle began at age four when she begged her parents into letting her take riding lessons. She started her Rodeo Royalty career at age eight as Miss Lil Bit Rodeo Arizona and was Arizona High School Rodeo Queen in 2006. Her most coveted title was winning the horsemanship category at the National High School Rodeo Queen competition as she competed with over 40 other state high school rodeo queens.
Amanda loves being a CHF Cowgirl because it allows her to teach others about the western way of life and the importance of showing honor and respect for our western heritage. The Foundation also gives her the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and participate in unforgettable events such as the Tournament of Roses Parade. She is grateful for the many opportunities and life experiences she has been given as a CHF Cowgirl and hopes that she can be an inspiration to other young girls just as she was inspired by those Cowgirls that came before her.
