Ashley Mentzer

Ashley Renee Mentzer was born to Wayne and Jerri Mentzer on a naval base in Jacksonville, Florida on October 30, 1986. The Mentzer family legacy is abundant in all branches of the military.  Listening to her family talk about their experiences shaped her into patriot. She is very proud of her American Heritage!

At age three her parents took her to her first horseback riding lesson. She rode atop a Quarter Horse named "JB" and met her first love. This was the start of a passion that would shape her life. A big move across the U.S. relocated Ashley to The Grand Canyon State. Immersed in the rich western heritage of Arizona she absorbed every detail. When she was 11 years old she purchased her very own horse. Throughout her school career Ashley was inspired by Reining, Cutting, Working Cowhorse and the western show world. She would show in any class she could enter. Win or lose she was slowly shaped into a horse woman. Her hard work and dedication eventually earned her 5th in World in Working Cow Horse. She is so grateful to the mentors who helped her grow whether human or animal.

In 2005 Ashley graduated from Higley High School, lettering in FFA.  She received a metal for her project in Equine Entrepreneurship. When choosing a career it was important to her that it involved animals. In 2006 Ashley attended The Arizona Institute of Equine Massage Therapy and Kinesiology where she received a certification. She has held jobs and volunteer positions at vet centers, a local pet store and animal control. No matter where life takes her she is always drawn to work with animals.

As a member of The Cowgirls Historical Foundation Ashley has an opportunity to preserve and promote our western heritage. The CHF has introduced Ashley to many new experiences and people. She is currently titled an Official Cowgirl and enjoys all that the group has to offer. She is able to log countless hours of community service and be part of the fast paced drill team. Ashley is appreciative for all the friendships she has gained through the CHF. In any endeavor pursued she has the full support and love of the group behind her. It is an incredible feeling. She is so blessed to know this group of women who are so beautiful inside and out. Each has touched her life leaving an imprint in her heart.

In December of  2010 Ashley met Christopher Sexton the man of her dreams. From then on they were attached at the hip. Christopher never fails to support Ashley in everything she does. He has shown his love through actions that speak louder than words. Christopher really is the answer to her prayers. They have many of the same interests and a common faith in the Lord. They look forward to growing their faith and love in a marriage sustained by the sure foundation of the lord.

In 2011 Ashley was crowned Queen Creek’s “Roots N Boots Pro Rodeo Queen”. She had the opportunity to travel throughout Arizona, California and New Mexico promoting the great sport of rodeo and the western way of life. She is proud to have the opportunity to partner with Queen Creeks American Legion to travel to San Diego, California to bring supplies to Balboa Naval Hospital.  Through Queening and the CHF Ashley has the honor to be a leader in her community and she takes it very seriously. She strives to be a positive example for young women when quality role models are few and far between.

Along with Horse Sense the good Lord gave Ashley a very artistic mind her passion for horses, western heritage and the great state of Arizona is channeled into creating one of a kind western jewelry. She is excited to put this to use and start a jewelry business this year.
